Workshop Objectives:
1. Enhance knowledge of maternal immunology and placental antibody transfer, focusing on how timing affects neonatal immunity.
2. Update participants on current global and national guidelines for vaccination during pregnancy, including safety profiles and contraindications.
3. Improve the ability of obstetricians to screen, diagnose, and manage key infectious diseases in pregnancy.
4. Strengthen counseling skills for maternal immunization, including how to address patient concerns and vaccine hesitancy using evidence-based strategies.
5. Promote integration of maternal immunization into routine antenatal care, particularly in settings with limited resources.
6. Empower participants to reduce perinatal and neonatal morbidity and mortality by identifying high-risk pregnancies for infectious complications & implementing timely vaccination strategies
7. Encourage adoption of preventive public health measures, including preconception screening, postpartum vaccination, and community education.
Course Summary
“Protecting Two Lives: Reducing Neonatal Morbidity and Mortality through Vaccination Strategies” is a two-day workshop scheduled for 29–30 August 2025. The course is designed to provide obstetricians and maternal-fetal medicine specialists with up-to-date knowledge and practical skills in maternal immunology and vaccination during pregnancy. The program includes expert lectures, interactive discussions and roundtables addressing global and national guidelines, infectious disease management in pregnancy, counseling approaches, and integration of vaccine education into routine antenatal care. By combining scientific updates and practical implementation strategies, the workshop aims to improve neonatal outcomes by promoting timely maternal immunization.
